Q: Can I pay my entry fee by cash or check?
A: No. All entry fees must be paid by utilizing Paypal (free service) which is available through the Contest website. Payment is made by logging onto www.MakeTheWorldWrite.com and CLICKing the Paypal/make payment link.
Q: Can I submit more than one entry?
A: Yes, you may submit more than one essay at US $200.00 per entry.
Q: Will hyphenated words count as one word or two?
A: Hyphenated words will be counted as one word.
Q: How will my essay be judged?
A: Each essays submitted will be reviewed for “word count.” All essay submissions must be NON-FICTION and describe “how you hope to make a difference in the world”.
The essay must have a beginning, middle and end, creating an emotional response from the reader.
Essays shall be submitted by mail only and shall contain no more than (1,000) words and no less than (100) words. Essays must be written in English. Handwritten entries will only be accepted if they are neat and legible.
Contest judges will select a winning entry based upon an honest and sincere expression of thoughts and emotions about how the contestant will make the world a better place. The winning essay’s theme will touch the hearts of the judges. Spelling and punctuation will be considered only to the extent that they add or detract from the essay.
The Winner shall be chosen from all qualified entries, and because this is a Contest of “skill”, there are no “odds” of a particular entry being chosen by the judges.
Q: If I win the house, do I have to live there, or can I rent it out or sell it?
A: The winner at their sole discretion may choose to live in the residence, rent it, or place it on the market at or below market value.
Q: What are the property taxes?
A: Approximately $3,000.00 per year.
Q: Does the furniture and decor come with the home?
A: No the furniture and decoration that Terri has in her home will go with her when she leaves. :(
Q: What about the cash prize of $100,000.00? Where does that money come from and what can I do with it?
A: The cash prize of $100,000.00 is being donated to the Contest winner by a third party donor. The Contest winner is encouraged, but not required, to use the proceeds to “make a difference” by bringing their idea of changing the world to life. This can involve donating the funds to a charity or non-profit of the Contest winner’s selection or using the funds personally, to begin their dreams for improving the world.
Q: When I win the house, will I have to pay income taxes on it?
A: Yes. All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the Contest winner.

Q: Is this essay contest a Lottery or a Raffle?

Q: What happens to the $200 if the contest is stopped and there is not a winner declared?
A: You will be refunded less 10 percent. $20 will be utilized to take care of administrative fees.
